Market Prep, Part 7.
Girls' Clothing

You guys were such big help last time I asked you for advice that I've decided to use your expertise once again... hope you don't mind. OK, so I was going to make 2 outfits to display on my brand new dress forms, Sara & Walleena, but then Michael Miller asked me to make 2 extra outfits for them to take to the L.A. Textile Show (which just happens to overlap Quilt Market by a day or so).

So, here's my dilemma: I've made my 4 outfits (as a matter of fact I just finished the last one about a half-hour ago, took pictures, edited them and now I'm here blogging away!), but I just cannot decide which 2 to keep for my booth in Houston and which 2 to send to MMF for their L.A. show.

Can you guys help me decide? Here are the choices:

1. Jumper-style A-line dress with Mod Blooms appliques on the front skirt panel:

andalucia-dress1

2. Euro jumper showcasing Flora in Petal colorway with a full underdress of Tiny Dots in Paprika:

andalucia-dress2

3. Long sleeve tunic-style dress with a fully-lined hood, contrast sleeve cuffs, stripwork skirt and a Flora applique on the chest:

andalucia-dress3

4. Peasant-style tiered twirl dress with shirring on sleeves & neckline and a removable & reversible gathered apron:

andalucia-dress4

I'd appreciate any suggestions. I just can't decide on my own cause I've been stuck in my basement like a hermit sewing for days and my brain is mush!

OH, and the pictures of quilts are coming SOON! Just waiting on the 3rd one to make it's appearance in my inbox, but in the meantime, go check out Elizabeth Cranmer's AMAZING Quilt Giveaway (hint: this is what her Andalucia quilt will look like, but in Andalucia fabrics, of course! LOL!)

  1. Love ALL of them :) of course....heheheh.....But I think that #1 and #4 should stay with you, and #2 and #3 should go with MMF, they seem to flow better together...and showcase different fabrics in the combination...

    again LOVE them ALL

Send the middle two to Houston and the first and last to L.A. That way you'll have kind of this balance of seasons and products (with some of the Ruffle Rac/binding in each place).

And ... they're all amazing, Patty. Seriously. I think I'm going to have to sneak one of them out of your booth and bring it home for L. ;)

I think you should bring number 2 & 3 and send the others to LA. Beautiful work!

  4. OK...I think 1 & 3 should go to quilt market as the applique will catch the quilters eye but the styles are new & unique...#4 looks a lot like a portabello pixie or pink fig pattern but #3 & 1 screams MODKID!

  5. not sure which should go where, but I LOVE #1 and #4!!!!!!!!! The other 2 are fabulous as well but 1 and 4 are perfection!!!! Fabulous job Patty!!! You are gonna be such a huge hit!

  6. I vote for #2 and #4 to stay with you. Any chance you will be selling #4 after market?? I love, love, love that one - the style, the colors - perfection, Patty!

Keep #2 & #3 for you and send #1 & #4 to MM. Definitely have to divide up the jumpers and then put the opposite colorway in the full dresses with each jumper. My thought with sending #1 to MM is that it really showcases their ruffle rack and bias tape - double whammie for them. You know they're all just gorgeous! You really can't go wrong.

  8. i like #2. they are all nice but #2 is my favorite!!

I would keep #1 and #4 to take with you and send #2 and #3 with MM to LA. They are all really beautiful so I can see why you had a problem. You won't go wrong keeping or sending any of them. You are going to have a great show.

    I'm agreeing with many that 1 & 4 and 2 & 3 should go together. I really love 1 & 4- I can see them on my girlies!

well, 1 & 2 for MMF, 3 and 4 for you... because MMF were the ones that wanted the ribbon incorporated... right???

  16. Whatever you do, keep dresses 1 and 2 together and 3 and 4 together. I think that those sets are the best 2 display of all your fabrics.

  17. You've gotten lots of good advice here...but I'd say keep #1 and #4...love the look of those two together...absolutely ADORE #1...it is a quilt market must!

I think you should go with #1 and #3 for market. I love the "fall" look of #3 and it's the fall market afterall, plus I think that the applique on #2 goes well with at least one of the quilts you'll be displaying. Best of luck choosing!

  19. thanks for the shout out Patty!

Okay so the dresses.... well i love #3and4 the most! That being said keep 3 for your booth and 4 for LA so both have the best of the seta nd then #1 for you and #2 for LA as my second faves. I love that your fabric can do ANYTHING so well! Brilliant!

  20. I'd take 1 and 3 with you and send 2 and 4 to mmf. :) LOVE no 3 BTW!

  21. Thanks for all your help, ladies! It's a close race so we'll see what happens when I tally the votes tomorrow. :)

For those of you who have emailed me about patterns... I am not producing any patterns this time around but will consider it in the future. I have a sort of "different" way of doing things, LOL!, so I'd have to sit down and write these so that everyone can understand them.

Amber, I'm not sure if I will offer these for sale after the show. Please get with me when I get back and I'll let you know. Most of these will probably become part of Sydney's wardrobe. But I might be persuaded to part with 1 or 2. ;)

  22. Well, it looks like if you ask 20 different people for their opinion you will get 20 different opinions! They are all beautiful, but somehow I think 1 and 3 are more in the modkidish style. Can't go wrong either way though!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really think #3 must go with you. It's so amazing and different from all the other patterns out there. To go with it, I guess I would choose #2. #1 might match more but i think you should show the different sides of the line. And #4 is so cute but it is similar to other ones I've seen.

  29. #3 is my absolute favourite and I think #2 makes a nice visual contrast to it.

    I would keep #3 & #2 for Houston.

    They are all darling.

  30. How freakin' cute are these??! Ok, definitely hold onto #3. That is so MOD and perfect for the season. And divide #1 and #2 since they are both jumpers. I think #1 might just be my fave!

  31. I say #1 and #3 go with you. They are all gorgeous and I can see why you had such a hard time deciding! Oh and I would like a #3 in my size please!

  36. I think 1 and 4 should go to MMF and the other two you should send to me! :) Love them all but 1 and 4 are my faves and show off a unique style on their own.

I think you should take #1 & #3 with you to Houston and send the other two with MM to LA. The colors on each group coordinate well and also I think the brighter colors would show well in the LA market. I also have to agree with Kristen that the applique will do well at the quilt market. I have to say that I am in LOVE with #3. It is so gorgeous. I love anything with a hood. Great Job!
