Introducing ... Flora & Fauna
It's finally here and I'm so friggin' excited about this new collection of mine that I squeal every time I see it!
A couple of months ago I did an interview with True Up in which I shared a bit of a background story on my concept of Flora & Fauna. I said (and I quote) "for this collection I had to go completely out of my comfort zone. I deviated from the structured, linear feel that I am so accustomed to and went with a more free-flowing, organic set of designs. This was my way of proving to myself that I could do something completely different while still staying true to my style."
So here it is, in it's full glory. It was a labor of love... I hope you like it!!
I just LOVE how the four color stories play so harmoniously together just like elements in nature!
I'm sure you all want to see some sewn items, don't you? Of course, I had to do pillows first! I always do pillows first.
Check out the back of my pillows! I used the selvedges as the edges of my envelope backing. Heehee. Oh, I crack myself up so!
I tweeted the other day when I was making these sweet little hexes. Oh, GOSH, I love these bees so much it hurts!!!
My dear friend, Valerie, sewed up this Nina pattern for me in record speed. Doesn't Sydney look so "Mod" and "cosmopolitan" in her Flora & Fauna ensemble? This sweet little 2-piece set will be on display at my booth at Quilt Market and after the show, it will become a store display at Sew Much More.
OH, and I almost forgot! The collection comes with a bonus "double border" design. I am so in love with these! Oh, the possibilities... skirts, dresses, curtains, quilts, pillows. I cannot wait to see what you all make with them. The Double Border Daisies come in all 4 colorways.
So, what do you think of Flora & Fauna? I am so excited that I want to share the wealth. I have a small stack of fat quarters sitting here in my studio just begging for a new loving home. Leave me a comment and I'll pick 2 winners to take these home. It'll be a small assortment of prints, but OH so sweet! Let me know if you have a favorite print or a favorite colorway. Tell me how the collection inspires you, or anything at all. I just want to hear what you think! :)
Great, Patty, I'm going to have to add a room on to my house because I think I have to have ALL OF IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!!!!
Swoon! I want it all!!! Gorgeous and not too girly girl too :)
ReplyDeleteYou've done it again!! Gorgeous! Can't wait to get my hands on some. I am a huge pink and green fan so I love the Raspberry colorway but the Turquoise is calling my name too. I am also loving the polka dot print with the floral border. I see dresses for my girls in the future!

ReplyDeleteWow-wow-wow!! I can't even decide which one is my favorite, I love them all!! It's going to be sooo hard to decide which ones to order. I'll be making handbags with them for sure, and maybe some things for my spare bedroom that I'm getting ready to re-do.
ReplyDeleteHi Patty!
ReplyDeleteYou know I only sell Japanese fabrics but your collection is very tempting! I love all the designs and colors! Can't wait to see them in person at QM!

ReplyDeleteOhhh I am smitten! They are all fabulous!!! I think my favorite (if I had to choose) is the sort of Dandelion-y print (5th from the bottom in the turquoise set)- I love what I can see of it in all 4 pallettes! ReplyDeleteThis is your best collection yet. I like how many of the fabrics can cross over to another colorway to add more sparkle (not that any of these really need it).
The turquoise colorway is my favorite and the humming birds are my favorite pattern.

I love it Patty! It's beautiful. Can't wait to get some and I think it's a toss up for me between stone and raspberry.
ReplyDeleteI love your new collection - it's gorgeous! The colourways are all beautiful and I ca already think of some things I'd like to make with it!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is very, very beautiful fabric! Turquoise is my favourite colour, especially when combined with Raspberry. I love the birds. I see many, many beautiful bags and purses. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteI love the raspberry colorway. My girls are just learning what flora and fauna are. We'll have to make some good stuff together with it.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading the interview over on True up.. Your collection looks absolutely gorgeous. I really like the 'stone' colourway - lovely to have a proper darker colour mixed in with the bright ones. Congratulations, and best of luck!
ReplyDeleteLove the turquoise and stone colorways!! What an amazing set of fabrics. I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteI love the Raspberry and Stone. Very pretty!!
ReplyDeleteYummo. They are gorgeous, and I love the border print. My favorite colors are the mustard and the stone, because they are beautiful and different, but I actually love them all
ReplyDeleteI think one of my favorite parts of all four colorways are the bees. I collect anything with bees or beehives on them. They remind me to be industrious. I really love the mustard and stone together. So scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteThe turquoise was telling me 'You must take some of me home'. The colorways are fantastic. I really , really liked the finish you gave the back of the cushions. Using the selvedge is a wonderful finish with the added bonus of no finishing required.
ReplyDeleteI love the new collection! I'm a huge fan of the Mezzanine collection and can't wait to snatch some of these up to make some amazing dresses for my daugther. The Stone colorway is perfect for fall!

Love the stone colorway and the border print. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThere is really nothing to say...the fabric says it all!! I am not even sure I could pick a favorite if I tried, but they are all so beautiful and vibrant that you couldn't go wrong with any of them :) Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone--if only we could all be so successful at doing something we are not comfortable with :)
ReplyDeleteI honestly could NOT make a choice...they are all so zesty and fun and DIFFERENT. The raspberry has a "Florida" look and as I am a Floridian it is very appealing. Guess if I had to pick it would be the mustard. What a refreshing change you have designed. I can't wait to use your work in my projects.
ReplyDeleteOh wow love it they are just beautiful. I will be asking Sarah (QFD) to get it all in....
ReplyDeleteIt's just wonderful. I love the stone colorway so much and those bees are an instant classic. I really love the less structured feel of the prints too.
ReplyDeleteoh I love it all but I think Stone would be mu favourite. Well done Patty it is just delightful.
