Another hairy situation

A couple of years ago, our sweet Sophie donated more than half of her beautiful red hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Well, this weekend she decided to do it again and we couldn't be any more proud of her! Here's a little step-by-step documentation of the process.

One last look at her long locks...

Sophie's hairdresser, Brooke, had to divide her hair into two pigtails because it was too thick to cut through one...

And so it begins...

Chop, chop, chop one side...

DONE!

Now, getting ready for a sweet, new, more "grown-up" do...

Thanks, Brooke, you did a fantastic job and Sophie is so, so happy with her new hair! :)

Sophie's locks of love are currently in a zip lock bag and ready to go out to a new recipient tomorrow. :) Happy Sunday, all!

  4. Excellent job Sophie!! Oh she has such gorgeous red hair too ... some little girl is going to be so happy because of her donation. :-)

How long did it take to get that long? I let my hair grow for the past two years and finally had almost 14" chopped off for Locks of Love the other week. But I'm not sure that I'd like the extreme growing out process again.

  7. What a sweetheart. Funny you should post this now because a girlfriend and I have appointments next Saturday to do the same thing. Hopefully it can help. Though my mousy blonde hair is nothing compared to your daughters beautiful locks.

  12. Thank you all for such sweet comments! Yes, we are incredibly proud of our girl and YES, she has a ton of hair and it grows like a weed! (I only wish mine would!) haha This is her 2nd time doing this and she says she wants to do it again and again. :)

  13. Yeah Sophie! You look fabulous in your new 'do!

For a few years at my school, we had an assembly near Valentine's Day for Locks of Love. I miss that...it was fun watching the girls' excitement in giving.
