Jumping on the bandwagon...

Our littlest princess, Sydney, usually wavers between wanting to do everything big sister does and marching to the beat of her own drum. For weeks now, she's declared that she would never cut her hair but alas Thursday night we found ourselves making yet another donation to the wonderful folks at Locks of Love.

I came prepared with my entire camera equipment, including my brand spanking new, totally awesome lens. Of course, as luck would have it, I had forgotten to charge my battery pack after my last big shoot and it was completely drained. :( So... iPhone comes to the rescue again.

One last look at her long locks...

We're so proud of our little princess! Way to go, Sydney!!!

If you're still reading, I wanted to thank all of you who voted for Flora & Fauna in FatQuarterly's Modern Madness game. We won! WOOOHOOO! And now SANCTUARY is up and I really need your votes because it's getting tough in there. Go here to vote!
Another hairy situation

A couple of years ago, our sweet Sophie donated more than half of her beautiful red hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Well, this weekend she decided to do it again and we couldn't be any more proud of her! Here's a little step-by-step documentation of the process.

Sophie's hairdresser, Brooke, had to divide her hair into two pigtails because it was too thick to cut through one...

And so it begins...

Thanks, Brooke, you did a fantastic job and Sophie is so, so happy with her new hair! :)

Sophie's locks of love are currently in a zip lock bag and ready to go out to a new recipient tomorrow. :) Happy Sunday, all!
A new bag and a new do

I'm carrying a new Marieliz original on my shoulder as of yesterday! Not that my old one wasn't good enough anymore, cause it so is! But with all the hand-beading and special details, I thought my Birdie Damask purse was better suited for special occasions. My new ModBlooms purse will be my everyday bag... big enough to carry all my junk (and those of you who know me well know what I mean!) but still stylish enough to turn heads. Get your own here.

I'm also sporting a new do as of this morning. I cut off all my red tips, which were not even red anymore but some kind of yucky, faded, in-between shade, and made it more of a blunt cut. No layers this time... long and straight in the front and a tad shorter in the back. Sorry about the blurry picture... best I could do in a bathroom mirror with terrible lighting...

If you're wondering who's jewelry I'm wearing, my necklace was custom-made by Erin of The Vintage Pearl using Andalucia fabric scraps and my ring was also custom-made by Ash of In Full Bloom.

I should've knocked on wood

I know this whole "self-haircut" thing is something that happens in most families at one point or another. I've seen so many pictures on other people's blogs and seen it first hand on my friends' and family's kids but I've always been happy & proud to proclaim that my kids have never done that. They've done this and this but never that.

Well, as my title says, I should've knocked on wood. ARGH!

She didn't do it to herself, Sophie did it to her. Don't ask me why. And apparently you can't ask her why either cause she doesn't know and gets very upset when you ask her. But what she does now is that she lost slumber party privileges and has to clean the playroom top to bottom for getting creative with her sister's hair.

As much as I was furious about this happening just days before leaving for vacation, I was more scared about the thought of my 6 year old putting a pair of Ginghers half an inch away from my 3 year old's eyes. EEEEEEEK! You'd better believe I am putting my sewing scissors way out of reach from now on. :(
