Pillow Talk
I had surgery this morning. It was a relatively short procedure but its results are drastic and permanent. So as not to weird out any male readership I might have out there, I won't go into much detail. I'll just say that I've been having, uhm... "female problems" for several years, well pretty much ever since my last labor & delivery. These "problems" left me with severe iron deficiency and the anemia brought on a whole slew of new problems. Those of you who've been long time readers of my blog may recall this incident last year.
Well, I tried some temporary solutions that did not fix my problem but just left me with less than desirable side effects. I had had enough, so I did it. After this, I won't be able to bear children anymore, but don't feel sorry for me. I am totally at peace with this. Jon and I had decided, even before getting married 10 years ago, that we wanted 2 children. That was always the plan and we were both so happy that we felt the same way. See, we both came from small families (Jon has one brother, I have one sister) so we are used to, and comfortable with, the dynamics of a small family. This just feels right, like it was meant to be, you know?
So now it's done and I am recuperating. In preparation for today, I went out a couple days ago and bought myself a nice synthetic down pillow (nothing against the real stuff, I'm just deathly allergic to it). And I've surrounded myself with all my favorite "comfort items": my laptop, my iPhone, TV remote, 7-Up & crackers (just in case), pain meds (of course!), pictures of my kids (to make me smile) and even a vase full of fresh daisies to brighten up the room. I know it sounds weird that I would find comfort in my computer & cell phone, but I do... I would go absolutely batty without them.
So now I just sit.
And wait.
And heal. (kinda nice not doing anything for a change)
Another thing that always makes me feel better is to give gifts... especially when I know the recipient will totally and utterly love it! I know that anyone who reads my blog must love fabric. And pretty things. And pretty things made with fabric. And how about pretty things made with fabric by ME? Ahhh, I see I got your attention! ;)
So, let me tell you about these 3 pillows. I made these for my Quilt Market debut of Flora & Fauna and they were a huge hit. So much so, that our Australian distributor, Mac's Crafts, took them home with him, along with my Hummingbird Quilt and a few outfits, to display in his booth at the Australian Quilt Market. In the meantime, while my beloved pillows were Down Under, I decided to develop a sewing pattern for these but since I didn't have the originals in hand to photograph for the instruction booklet, I had to make them all again. I didn't mind, it was a labor of love.
Well, the pattern is done and off to the testers and then I got my pillows back from Australia and I did a double take... I have 2 of each now! haha! So, how would you like to win one of these? I'll give away the original pillows... the ones that traveled Down Under without me... lucky ducks!
Up for grabs we have Hummingbird Patch:
And Ragged Blossoms:
And Busy Bee Hive:
I will draw 3 winners, 1 for each pillow, one week from today. And since it is Gift Giving time, I won't be totally offended if you re-gift these. ;) Just leave me a comment below this post to enter. If you've experienced anything similar to what I did today, I'd love to hear of your experience. If not, you can tell me a funny story or a joke or a sweet poem to make me smile. Or just pop your head in and let me know you're here. :)
If you don't win, you can still grab the pattern, available in January 2010, along with 5 other brand new MODKID patterns. I'm super excited about this release... wait till you see all the fun stuff we have in store for you! I'll do a full reveal in a few days...
Retailers: this pattern along with the other 5, will be up for pre-order in about a week or so. Contact Jon at jjyoung@modkidboutique.com if you'd like to be added to our mailing list.
I hope you feel better. I have a friend that went through something similar. It changed her life for the better. Take care!
ReplyDeleteHi Patti!
ReplyDeleteI have two little girls as well and a very similar condition to you. I had to "get fixed" after my last child due to the fact that I flatlined after giving birth. Very rare, but left a whole bunch of side effects similar to yours. I feel so much better now, and know that it was the best decision. Please get lots of rest and relax!
I am head over heels over the hummingbird pillow. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI did have a similar experience, but it was to be able to have children. They couldn't completely wake me up after, but since it was closing time, they pored me into my clothes, dumped me in a wheelchair and pushed to the curb. Fun:(
Hope you feel better soon, but enjoy this chance to relax! You deserve it.
HEY!! Hope you feel better!! I actually just got a sewing machine, so I now I need to learn how to use it, so I can make things with your amazing fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteHope you Recoup well! I had a tubal after my last baby, but not by choice LOL. I am an octo mom sympathizer and would have continued to go on having children until my husband went old and grey : ) Just to let you know too, I am doing a thorough study of your studio and running to Ikea in a couple of weeks to copy for my new sewing room in my new house! Sew excited! Get to feeling better!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillows, can't wait to see all the new patterns. I hope your recovery is short and sweet:)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteMarina
I hope you are feeling better very soon. For the long haul. Here's a joke from the twins. What do you get when you cross a brown chicken with a brown cow? Brown chicken brown cow!(said with a slur and a twang!)
ReplyDeletewhy didn't the bear want any dessert? Because he was stuffed.
Hi Patty!
ReplyDeleteWishing you warm wishes and positive thoughts for a speedy recovery!
I love these pillows! What a great way to brighten up a room!
ReplyDeleteRest up and relax! I hope you enjoy the break as much as you can considering!
ReplyDeleteThe pillows are beautiful, great work....I will be happy for them to come back down under to my house!!
My friend just had the same surgery! Hope you are back on your feet in no time!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pillows...just gorgeous! Definitely would NOT re-gift. :)
Beautiful pillows!
ReplyDeleteI hope you recover quickly. I had a similar situation years ago, the advise I wish I had taken, is to really give yourself time to heal before you try to do to much.
Take care, and good luck.
Sorry you had surgery. I had a "fix" for a big issue a couple years ago. It's all great now! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pillows!
I hope you will feel better soon:)
ReplyDeleteHey take it easy! You'll heal faster if you just give yourself some time. Love your pillows, by the way...especially the hummingbird but they are all gorgeous. Can't believe you are post-surgery and doing a 'giveaway'. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteuh, yeah! thanks for the chance to win such beautiful pillows. i really admire your bold style. i tend to be fairly conservative in my personal style, but i love what you do! No horror stories here, but i will pray for a speedy recovery and for a pain/trouble free future for you :)
ReplyDeletelove the pillows, the bee fabric is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering why you weren't tweeting. Now I know why!
I hope your recovery is fast & smooth.
I'm excited for more new goodies from you!
I would have my laptop & my iPhone by my side as well...always do ;)
Get well soon,
Jaclyn
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery -- and wishing ME luck to win a pillow! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have quick recovery Patty!! I would love to win one of the pillows! They are all fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are relaxing and watching lots of good (hg)tv! LOL. Take care, be pampered and rest up.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, best wishes to you. I love the Hummingbird pillow-cannot wait until the pattern for the quilt!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have not had a similar experience, one of my good friends just had similar surgery. I got to see her yesterday when I brought lasagna, cookies, turkey soup and bread to her house for her and her family. Hopefully, you and my friend will both be better for it. Hope you get better quick!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pillows by the way. Pillows are a super cool canvas to experiment with different designs aren't they?
this feels a little strange... aren't you the one suppose to be receiving gifts at a time like this, not giving them away ; ) i love reading your blog and seeing all of the vibrant pictures. your fabric and patterns are amazing!
ReplyDeletethanks,
i hope your feeling better soon,
sandra
My sister had to have the same thing and she said that she felt much better afterward. Hopefully you will get the same results.
ReplyDeleteI love the new pillows!! Very pretty!!
A smile for you...while our family was watching a Charlie Brown Christmas, my son Carson (6) asked me "Mom, do you know why they call him Pigpen" and I replied "Because he's always dirty" and Carson said "No, because he's covered in pen marks". PRICELESS.
ReplyDeleteI'll say a prayer for your speedy recovery - give yourself the time to heal.
Your pillows are beautiful. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better. The pillows are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the new patterns! I have just about all of the ones you have done so far, I think I don't have 2 or 3?
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you on your little procedure. I know it wasn't so "little". I may be in your shoes soon if I don't get to my Dr but for other reasons.
I would be honored to have one of your pillows! I am afraid that I would keep it and not give it away, lol.
Long distance hugs that don't hurt.
Christie @ Stitch'N Love Boutique
Gentle hugs... hoping you heal quickly.
ReplyDeletebeautiful pillows, i'd love to win one! hope you recover quickly and enjoy your "down time"!
ReplyDeleteI hope your recovery is speedy! I don't have your female problems, but am having problems conceiving, so I can relate in someways. Lots of tests and so forth.
ReplyDeleteAs for the pillows - they are so awesome! My favourite is the hummingbird one.
Oh Patty! I'm going to get the first "procedure" done. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. I'm gonna definitely do what you did if it doesn't work for me. We're done having kids, and I HATE female issues. Don't want to gross anybody out, but YUCK! Hope you recover quickly. Just take it easy and you'll be back to normal (without the yucky "time of the month") in no time! *Hugs* Paige
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteHi, I hope you are feeling a little better.
ReplyDeleteI had a tubal ligation after my 5th c/section, (only 4 babies though), I think its only a matter of time for me before they take the lot. One thing I learnt from all my recoveries, was to really really take it easy, recovery is better and quicker if you do what your told lol!
Your cushions are gorgeous, and I'm pretty sure one of them would like to go back down under to live!!
I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI love the hummingbird pillow!
Lovely pillows, Lovely You! Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Things can only get better from here. =)
ReplyDeleteHey Patti,
ReplyDeleteIm glad to hear you are doing Ok and at peace with the decisions you've made...thast very important. Im saying a prayer for you right now...for more peace, comfort and healing. HUGS!
Thank you for having such a lovely (or 3 rather) giveaway(s)! The winners will be so lucky to get any one of them!
Feel better soon!
God Bless,
Sarah
esgutierrez4@msn.com
hello patti! really hope you'll recover from surgery soon *hugs*
ReplyDeleteand of course am also drooling at those gorgeous pillows! :)
Hope you have a speedy recovery. I had surgery summer before last to fix some female problems that I had after having my daughter. It took some time but I'm mostly better.
ReplyDeleteI truly hope you get well soon. Surgeries of this sort or any for that matter, are serious busniess. Be well.
ReplyDeleteAngie
If I won any of these pillows there's no way I'd re-gift them - they'd be all mine and no-one else's - like a christmas present to me!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better - I had something similar done, but I have 4 kids (all in 5 years and all c's), and would've probably had more but body said to quit while I was ahead. Your kids are beautiful and I love seeing the pics of them modeling your stuff.
I wish you a quick recovery! I need the surgery but have a military Doctor who seems to think my body will heal itself! I need to go in and get a second opinion! I have two children 9 years apart and my lovely little girl did a number on my body! But she is well worth it! We are too done having children! Hope everything goes well!
ReplyDeleteI love your pillows, very beautiful!
I really love the bee hives, such a clever idea!
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone through it... Heck, I still have yet to give birth. My sister went through what you did and all I can say is REST. She is one that can't stay down and after about a day or so, she wanted to get going. Your body is saying "STOP... I just had something major done and I need to heal". Your head will say something totally opposite. So, listen to the body and REST.
ReplyDeletewishing you the best of health! stay positive & focus on WELLNESS & that's what you'll get! =) I totally believe in the power of positive thinking.
ReplyDeletei hope you get feeling back to normal soon! I would have loved to see what you came up with in a half-drugged state. When I had my appendix out I had the same thing happen, he told me he was going to strap my arms down and then.... what? what else did he say? I have no idea. I woke up to see a nice nurse handing my a cough pillow so i could press it up against my incision for laughing or coughing purposes.
ReplyDeleteI won't tell you any jokes, because, well, I don't want it to hurt when you laugh. :)
Love the hummingbirds!
Hey Patty,
ReplyDeleteI went for my pre-op today because I am having surgery for the same reasons on Monday. My husband and I have the same feelings about children and he had the vasectomy 13 years ago after the birth of our second child.
I finally decided it as time to try to end the monthly nightmare that I saw my mother go through until she was much older than I am.
I hope you are feeling OK after it all. I am nervous about Monday, but keep hearing about others. I can't believe I just checked your blog and read you have gone through similar things and had surgery today.
Wow!
I know just what you mean about the computer and cell phone!
Feel better!
Brownchickenbrowncow! That was too funny! Rest well, and here's too all kinds of cool finds on your laptop!
ReplyDeleteThe pillows are GORGEOUS! And I bet one would have a permenant spot in my house!
Give yourself LOTS of time to recover Patti! My Sister had "female problems" for years after her last child and she had to have the same sugery when she was just 28. Fortunately for her she also has 2 children and didn't want anymore. Now I'm the one having the "female problems" at 35. It runs in our family.
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited about this giveaway! I've LOVED these pillows since their first debut!! I'm SO happy that you finished the pattern! REGIFT?!? NO WAY! If I am lucky enough to win one of your creations, it's mine, all mine! *insert evil laugh here* !
Thanks for your constant stream of inspiration. Love your creations, love your blog! Feel better!!
thekirkfamily4@gmail.com
First off, I have been waiting and waiting for these fabrics to appear online, and finally to my excitement I think I have spotted some.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about you having to have surgery. I hope you feel better soon. I have not had female problems like this. Mine are a little different. More the type of having a hard time getting pregnant. I have one beautiful daughter who is 4. About 1 1/2 years ago I gave birth to our second son who was born with Anencephaly. Unfortunately he only lived for 9 hours, and that was difficult. we are so thankful for the experience, because it has helped us to grow in so many ways as a family. I hope that your experience will also help your family to learn and grow too.
You are so talented, and I look forward to that humming bird quilt pattern.
I saw in a blog post from an interview with you and (I think) Boutique Cafe that you would be offering the pillow patterns. TDF!!! I am thrilled about it, love the look!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you had to have surgery. Because of having stage IV breast cancer and having to have chemo a lot, I am on the "other side" of the change of life at 36. So I understand what a huge change it is for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you heal quickly and enjoy your "me" time. Take it easy and give yourself lots of grace in the near future as you get used to the differences in your body.
I hope you get the rest you need to get better. I love all the designs you make. I just bought about 15 meters of mezzanine. I can't wait to make stuff for my daughter with it. Unfortunately, your gorgeous little girls patterns are too small for my daughter. She's in size 12 now. But I plan to make her a few dresses and skirts. I love your new line of fabric. Those pillows are gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win them.
ReplyDeletebeautiful cushions! love them... get well soon♥
ReplyDeletelove the vibrant colours of those pillows!
ReplyDeleteSure hope you feel better soon and enjoy relaxing while you can.
Wow!! You turned the baby factory in to an amusement park!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon !!!! And I win something!!
I hope you're continuing to heal and feel better. I'd be most comfortable with my computer and tv remote, too!
ReplyDeleteYour hummingbird pillow is beautiful! I can't wait until the patterns come out!
Hi Patti, I am facing the same thing as you except I have decided to go for the hysterectomy as I don't want to take any chances that it doesn't work. We tried the temporary fix and it worked sort of ok until 3 months ago but I have had enough of taking pills and all the side effects (all but one apparently) so thats it. I am happy with 2 kids and really ok with my decision.
ReplyDeleteMy mom went through this same thing too. She was better off for it. Hope you have a quick recovery! I absolutely LOVE the fabrics and pillows!
ReplyDeleteYour pillows are GORGEOUS!!! I love the bee hive one the bestest.
ReplyDeleteI've had 4 "female surgeries" since I had my one and only DD. The first was a uterine lift because I had uterine prolapse. The rest were all for pelvic pain they thought were caused by cysts. Finally at my last surgery they diagnosed me with endometriosis. I went to see a specialist, and am now on this medication that makes me be in a menopausal state. Well that is no fun! So I know some of what you have coming. Hopefully I can get off the medication and my pelvic pain won't come back. If not I think I'll go for the surgery finally. I just hope I don't regret only having 1 child.
Hope you are feeling better each day. I have 2 grown girls and love having the small family. When you add their spouses and kids you will have plenty of family in the future! Thanks for a chance to win one of your world traveler pillows.
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet to be giving away fun stuff to us, when you're the one who is laid up in bed. Thanks for the giveaway. The pillows are so rad. I would love to get my hands on one of them. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a swift recovery!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better real soon. I can't say that I have gone through anything like that, but I hope everything goes well for you. I love your pillows, and would love to have one of my own. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThose pillows are awesome! Can't wait for the new pattens! Hope you fell better soon :)
ReplyDeleteI was only 21 when I pushed mine out with my son, and then had to have a TVH. I was devistated and not even close to ready to stop having kids! but God had a different plan for us. after fostering over 65 kids we adopted 3 children, 2 babies and 1 teen who is now 22 and has made me a grandmother at a very young age, lol. I do have to say I love not having aunt flo visit anymore and life is good. good luck and have a quick recovery!
ReplyDeleteBTW the Bee Hive is the cutest! I am not a quilter but I just may have to try that patten out. I am also drooling over your new line! I am having a hard time trying to figure out which ones I want first!!!!
Wow, what a super weird coincidence. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy (yes dudes I said it--get over it) in EXACTLY 2 weeks. For basically the same issue, chronic anemia caused by a misbehaving uterus (yep, said that too) I hope you take it easy for reals and have a speedy recovery. Shout out to all of us hyster sisters!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. thank you really so much for sharing. I feel comforted to know that I am not alone.
It's way too early in the morning for me to be funny, so I'll just pop my head in and let you know that my couch would look great with one of those pillows in it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you'll have a good recovery after surgery.
yep, been there done that too. give yourself plenty of time to recoup. I mean, in a few weeks after you seem to be back to a regular routine, it's ok take to take a nap now and then. totally ok. even beneficial.
ReplyDeleteand I love to win a pillow. it would look smashing in my redone sew room.
I hope you have fast and easy recovery. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well after the surgery. When I was in my mid-twenties (I am now 39) I asked my gyno for a hysterectomy. I had had ENOUGH of the pain. Of course she wouldn't do it. I am now lucky enough to have a wonderful boy aged 4. But inbetween I also had endometroisis. Lordy that was awful. Not just pain once a month but all the time. At times I seriously wondered why girls have to go through this crappy stuff. Glad to hear you have planned well and have some creature comforts. I wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, Patty! :)
ReplyDeleteSending the Get-Better_soon Fairies your way xoxoxo hugs from Clo in Oman.
ReplyDeletei just want to wish you to feel better, recover fast and always be healthy!
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway
i sure hope you feel better soon, and i know a friend who had the same issues, and had a procedure done, and she feels great!! those pillows are so awesome!! i would save it for my new house that should be in progress next year. take care patty!!
ReplyDeleteI had surgery along the same lines a couple of years ago, while mine was not as drastic I was resigned to the outcome whatever it would be. Take care, I know how much it hurts!(physically).
ReplyDeleteI love these pillows!!! Precious!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon! I know what you mean about the computer. Went to visit family so I was without a computer almost the entire 2 weeks. It drove me crazy.
ReplyDeleteThe Hummingbird Pillow is fantastic. I love the color combination that you used in your new line of fabrics.
I completely and totally love Hummingbird Patch! And I think it's probably missing Australia and would like to come and live Down Under with me! I have a 'marieliz' Andalucia bag I use all the time (and for which I receive many compliments), and am desperately hoping she'll be making some from the exact prints you used in this cushion. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteWow sounds like a tough road especially after all we have to go through to have chrildren in the first place. I wish you a speedy and full recovery. You are being so generous with your pillows. They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHaven't had that surgery but have experienced severe anemia and know just how debilitating it is. Hope your pain is controlled and enjoy your "down" time. Catch up on all those great old holiday movies! Oh, and the pillows are fantastic - love the hummingbird one!
ReplyDeleteOOOOOHHHH this would be perfect! I am redoing the spare room and would LOVE LOVE to put one in there!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are resting and recover well and fast!! Would LOVE to win a pillow....nothing better than saving time but reaping the benefits of someone else's handywork! :oP Take care!
ReplyDeleteOof. Get well soon! I hope you're able to take it easy and relax.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the chance to win your lovely pillows.
feel better! thanks for being such a giver even in the midst of pain.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows! I have to have my second D&C next week for a miscarriage I have been waiting for for 3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteallysont@ecologyfund.net
WOW! Thank you all so much for the well wishes and for sharing your (or your friend's or relative's) experiences. I am surprisingly pain-free this morning... and without the pain-killers! I'm up and about and feeling great! And looking forward to being healthy from now on.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for all the "pillow love". I do adore these but since I had doubles I thought someone else should get to adore these at home too! Good luck, everyone!!!
patty
The pillows are so beautiful-looking at them should definitely put a smile on your face so I won't bore you with a crummy joke!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who did what you did, the best thing she could have ever done. In fact I am trying to get my dr to do it, since I both of my children are adopted, I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteHere is something to make you smile, 2 weeks ago, my almost 3 year old glued his hands to his trike with my Roxanne's applique glue! Luckily it is water soluble, bit after much panicking on his part, I realized I should have taken a picture of this event, because it was quite funny!
Thanks for giving us the chance to win these pillows! They are awesome!
Oh Patty, I hop you feel better real soon. What a bummer to have to recover from surgery. I am like you I would HAVE to have my computer and phone right next to me too! Take care and feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThe pillows are so pretty. I especially like the pink and green one. Hope you have a quick recovery
ReplyDeleteThose are the prettiest pillows! Hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteDh and I are both from 2-kid families and that's all we wanted too..except in our case, dh had the surgery after our kids. :}
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery will eliminate all the problems you've been having!
The pillows are so pretty and so happy - they're like a breath of spring and are perfect for the dreariness of winter!
HI Patti
ReplyDeleteyour pillows are beautiful.
I did order your's new fabric but
they didn't ship them yet :(
And I hope you'll have a good
recovery after surgery.
arwa
Patty,
ReplyDeleteHeal fast and feel better. You are one extraordinary woman!
I hope you are feeling better soon Patty! I have not had the same or similar experience to you, but I think I know some of what you're feeling. I am 25, but was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia 3 years ago and am still dealing with it. I may need to have surgery also, since the fix of just "waiting and seeing" doesn't seem to be doing anything. I know how it feels when there is something going on"down there". Please be good to yourself and take all the rest you need!
ReplyDeleteI really love the bee hive pillow - it's gorgeous, but of course I would be happy to receive any of them! :D
Hope your recovery is swift! Just like the delivery of any one of these wonderful pillows to my doorstep! Ha!
ReplyDeletePlus, I was commenter # 100 - that is LUCK. I just MUST win one...*hint*hint*
ReplyDeleteI don't have any experiences to share but I do love your blog and your fabric and patterns. If I had a girl I'm sure I would buy all your patterns but I have 3 boys, but now I can get a pillow pattern from you and use it. Thanks for the give away, I love the humming bird pillow.
ReplyDeleteHUMMINGBIRDS, oh, hummingbirds!
ReplyDeleteWe had one who kept visiting the (seed filled) feeder, looking lost, so we got a hummingbird feeder. The bumblebees loved the feeder, but the hummer still gazed longingly at the seed. Raised by chickadees, perhaps?
Oh MY how generous you are.
Hope you feel all better very, very soon.
ggross(at)gwendolengross(dot)com
Love the pillows and glad you're feeling better
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a restful recovery!
ReplyDeleteEach pillow is so different from the others, but each one is fabulous
I'm trying to get my 5yo to re-tell the funny joke she told me last night to share with you, but somehow she doesn't remember it either! I'll be back if either of our memory returns!
I hope you feel "back to normal" soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you were blessed with your two girls before the problems started. I am also glad your family brings you peace. Blessings for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteDolores
Thanks for your generous giveaway!
Hope you heal up quickly! Enjoy the rest. Just want to tell you that I've been waiting - and not so patiently at that for Flora and Fauna to get to stores so I can purchase it! Love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better. The pillows are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered ALL your newest patterns and can't wait to see what else you have in store for us! Take care of yourself--I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeletei hope you feel better.
ReplyDeletewaiting the arrival of your fabric and patterns. love doll dresses.
Wow - those are beautiful. The bees are especially bright and fun!
ReplyDeleteHere is my favourite joke: What did the zero say to the eight? Nice belt!
Hope your recovery goes well and quickly.
Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWhat's a pirate's favorite fast food chain?
Arrrrrbys!
Thanks for the opportunity.
Thanks for such a nice giveaway! I am contemplating the same surgery you just had. Hope you are feeling back to yourself soon.
ReplyDeleteAw, I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteand I'd love to win a pillow!
shou.milk@gmail.com
Gorgeous, gorgeous fabric, and beautiful pillows. I hope you feel better. For complicated reasons, it has turned out that we can only have one child. We're fine with it, she is enough to make a whole world happy. And we are both only children. But I'm from a huuuge family, so its a little strange to be so ok with it.
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
I hope you feel better soon, i had some female surgery about 5 years ago...laparoscopy...a few hole and into my belly button. I will never forget how the office squeezed me in before doc left for vacation (and i would miss yet another month trying to get pg)...and to top it off...after they gave me the sleepy medicine...as i was going to dreamland, the doctor took my hands and offered up a prayer, and i smiled knowing i was in good hands. and 2 beautiful kids later i still smile thinking of that dr. thanks for a chance at your fantastic pillows, i love all your work.
ReplyDeletewow, so generous to be giving when you are going through something major. i wish you well and fast recuperating!
ReplyDeletei love your fabric and each pillow is beautiful in it's own way, so if i am luckily chosen, i'd like you to surprise me.
thank you!
I hope you are doing well and truly taking it easy! It is so hard for us moms to do :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the pillows!!
SO cute! I think i watched a video of you and these pillows on Portabellopixie's blog a few weeks ago! :) I hope you feel better soon, maybe you should pop in A Christmas Story or Babes In Toyland or maybe Miracle on 34th Street,... great feel better movies during the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI am luckily surgery free to this point in life. My daughter is beginning to say 'i love you' that certainly makes me smile, hope it brightens your day too! thanks for the generous giveaway, I am a big fan!

ReplyDeleteOhhh.....that hummingbird pillow....I could only be so lucky!
ReplyDeleteWay back in 1997 I had a vaginal hysterectomy. I didn't try any of the non-surgical things before I went ahead and had my surgery. My mother had tried everything and ended up with an emergency hysterectomy. I'm a cut to the chase kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'm laying in the hospital bed the night of my surgery, on pretty good drugs and just resting and such while watching NCAA basketball and my team makes a LAST MINUTE BASKET and WINS THE GAME! I almost tore all my stitches out! LOL
And when I win a pillow you can email me at kim.b.funk@gmail.com
I'm feeling lucky today! LOL
I *did* experience something similar and in the end, it made me proud to be a strong woman! I am blessed to have such a high tolerance for pain and the strength, emotional and physical, to persevere! GET WELL and BE STRONG! Thank you for the generous giveaway, too! Beautiful, beautiful designs.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, Patty! Feel better soon and I am jealous of the pillows trip Down Under too! I love the colors in the first pillow and the birds are awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better! And I hope the procedure takes care of everything. "Girl problems" are no fun at all.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a generous giveaway. The pillows are just fabulous!
may you recover well from your surgery. your cushions are lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove them - they'd be great in my daughters' room! And wishing you a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeletequick recovery! super cute fabrics!
ReplyDeleteLovely pillows! They will instantly cheer up any room. My fav is the hummingbirds--love the color combinations :O)
ReplyDeleteAh, well, if laughter is the best medicine then here's a joke...
there are 4 potatoes in a room. how do you know which one is the prostitute?
It's the one wearing a sticker that reads, I-DA-HO!
now that's funny stuff.
Hmmm...I feel kind of guilty trying to win a pillow from someone who just had surgery! Not guilty enough not to enter, though! :) No experience here...I'm wanting a baby sooo badly! Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon. The hummingbird pillow is my favorite. I just received my first ModKids pattern this week. Looking forward to making a cute outfit for my youngest.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
~Jenny~
I had a hysterectomy just over two years ago. Honestly, it felt like a year before I was hitting on all cylindars again. BUT....it's great once you get there!
ReplyDeleteWe also have 2 children, but we adopted!
Blessings--
Dana
I absolutely adore your hummingbird patch pillow! I can't wait to get the pattern!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery.
What lovely pillows! So cheerful and sunny!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the same surgery as you, but here goes a funny TMI surgery story for you. I had surgery 2 months after my son was born and I was nursing him, so I had to pump enough for one week (enough time for the meds to clear out. I was totally engorged after surgery, and my husband brought my son to see me. Well, he started crying, and I *let loose*. Sprayed down the whole room! Ha!
I wish I was a glowworm
ReplyDeleteA glowworm's never glum
'Cause how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum?

Lovely pillows! The bee one is SO cute!

I hope you get better soon, at least you're nearly there by having the surgery. I've seen in friends how horrible the pain can be from any such "lady" problems, so congratulations on being free from it!

ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have kids, sometimes it will wear you out and you just need a bit of space, where you just sit and do "nothing" ... when I need my "time-out" from constant "mommy here" or "Mommy there" I hid in a corner and read some silly stuff on the Computer or I just wait patiently (as patient as I am able to) until the kids are in bed an hubby infront of the TV and I sew and embroider and just mind myself (it's really relaxing for me to sew and get my stress directed in a productive creativ way).
ReplyDeleteI hope the quiet time work for you and you healed a good deal ... ;)
Prechristmas Greetings from Luxembourg
Simone

ReplyDeleteSeeing the hummingbird pillow took my mind back 25 years in time.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest brother was about 5 years old and he loved birds. He drew me a picture of a hummingbird sipping from a flower, which was so special to me that I carried it with me everywhere I moved as I grew up, received an education, first career, first home etc.
I had forgotten all about that special momento, and now I will have to dig it out.
Thanks for bringing back some very sweet childhood memories. After a rough day at work today, it reminded me that the little things in life are the important ones!
Bless you.

I hope you feel better now. During my second pregnancy I had so many issues the doctors thought was related to hormones. Two years later, one doctor discovered that I had a tumor on a gland that was causing all of the problems! I had the surgery last month and am so glad to be in the recovery stage and not in the messy part...
ReplyDeleteand on another note--your fabrics are gorgeous! I cannot wait to make my daughter dresses from the the Kyoko pattern.
I love each of your beautiful pillows. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you are feeling better now. I know what you mean about feeling your family is full and complete. I think two is quite a nice number!
