Introducing... Grand Bazaar RIBBON!

I promised another product reveal today and I was not about to disappoint! Three years ago I designed a collection of 16 jacquard ribbons for J. Caroline Creative using my Andalucia designs. They were so popular that I still get tons of inquiries for them today. So, we've decided to do another line of ribbons, except this time we produced them ourselves, bringing Caroline in as a consultant. :)

May I present to you, Grand Bazaar Jacquard Ribbons...

MODKID-Ribbon-REVEAL

There are 16 designs total, 8 of them are 1.5" wide and the other 8 are 7/8" wide, 100% Polyester and absolutely gorgeous, if I shall say so myself.

They coordinate perfectly with my Grand Bazaar line of cotton textiles for Michael Miller Fabrics.

There are 6 tone-on-tone prints that are completely reversible and oh, so soft (I am especially excited about those!) so they can be used for things like headbands, hair bows, shoulder straps, or... wait for it... the ties on the Kyoko obi! :)

As you can tell, we've had a blast photographing these every which way possible. Then oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over the vibrant colors...

In case you need ideas on what to make with these luscious ribbons, here are some inspiration shots...

Emalee made these amazing pillows. Yes, folks, these pillows are made with ribbons ONLY... all sewn together in a row!

My amazing friend, Gaby, at My Funky Camera, made a bunch of camera straps for me and... she sent me some extras to give away! I'll give one of these straps to a lucky blog reader if you leave me a comment. The others are coming with me to Quilt Market so I can randomly give them away too. See... I told you she was amazing!!!

Here's my BFF Nikki (the crazy camera lady, haha) modeling a bunch of straps! She got to keep one too for her awesome modeling job.

Then, my other awesome friend, Valerie at Sew Much More, made this super cool Sun & Surf Tote using the Persian Skies colorway of Grand Bazaar with some coordinating ribbon.

Isn't it awesome to have friends like these?!? I'm so lucky!!! :)

If you're coming to Quilt Market next week don't forget to stop by our table at Sample Spree. We have prepared some sampler sets of this ribbon so you can take it home and preview it (or touch it, smell it, roll around in it, whatever floats your boat!) Here's a sneak of what's coming with us to Salt Lake City...

MODKID-Ribbon-10

Only limited quantities of these kits available and we're not making anymore, so get 'em while they're hot!

***RETAILERS: The ribbon won't be up for purchase until after we return from Quilt Market (end of May), but if you'd like to receive a wholesale price sheet via email, let Jon know at jjyoung@modkidboutique.com and he'll send it to you right away!***

Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered to win a gorgeous camera strap from My Funky Camera! And just because I'm feeling happy and generous... a second winner will receive a sampler package of ribbon!! I'll choose the winners next Monday. Go, go, go!!
Now I have no excuse

Before today, if my photos were of substandard quality (too dark or too soft or too funky-colored) I could blame it on my gear. Now I have no excuse! If my photos suck from now on I have no one to blame but myself. My new dream gear arrived in the mail this week! Well, most of it anyway. I'm still waiting impatiently for my 35mm lens which is actually the one I really, really wanted to play with (it always happens that way, doesn't it?!?)

Check it out:

Here's what it looks like out of the box (this picture taken with my Pentax *istDL)

And since my usual subjects are both at school right now, I was happy to use Lucy as my first guinea pig.

EPB-doll1

Lucy arrived last week -- a little surprise gift from the lovely and talented Elinor Peace Bailey -- and has made herself right at home in my studio. The girls adore her and I think she makes such a perfect model. She is sporting a dress and shoes made with my Andalucia fabrics and has the funkiest of headpieces.

I think this is my favorite photo (love these yoyo sandals and all the details! Mmmmm!)

He facial expression is just priceless.

EPB-doll4

Elinor, thank you so much again for this precious doll! We just love her. And she will definitely be accompanying me to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks. So all of you attending Quilt Market, please stop by and say hi to Lucy!

Disclaimer: I just barely opened the box and took these pictures. I haven't learned how to adjust my manual settings or optimize my lens usage yet. I tried reading the user manual in bed last night but passed out by page 2 (why do they make those so dull?) Well, I'm more of a hands-on/visual kind of gal so I'll be messing with it some more and hope to be able to get even better pictures real soon! (not complaining here... I like what I have so far!) ;)
