How does it work?

The Malibu Misses was inspired by the beloved girl's version, Malibu Cross-Back Dress. There are a few differences between the girl's and the women's version to make it all the more figure flattering. Most notably is the full back option and more fitted skirt.



As you can see, there are four basic options, cross-back or full back, mini or maxi. Within these options are guides for slits on the maxi skirt and petite, average, and tall sizing. Let's let a few images from our awesome testers inspire you!!

It's almost MODKID's turn!

Friends, in less than a week (6 days to be exact), we will be releasing the next pattern in the ROAD TRIP PATTERN CLUB. This pattern was designed by us, MODKID, especially for you! A lot of thought went into dreaming up a design that would work for women of all sizes because we all know each and every one of us is unique. Then, after it was designed, we carefully chose testers in all different sizes because we wanted to make sure it would indeed work for everyone!

We can't show you the full design yet, but we can share a little sneak peek. With a little imagination, you can probably figure out what it is. ;)

If you are a planner like me, and you like to shop early for fabric and notions -- so that you'll be ready to jump right in when the pattern arrives in your inbox next week -- here's what you'll need:

SUGGESTED FABRICS: Use lightweight fabrics that drape well, like voiles, lawns, crepes, silks, satins or shirtings. You can also use a semi-sheer fabric like cotton lace, handkerchief linen or eyelet. This design also works well in a lightweight, drapey knit like slinky knits and jerseys. Fabric used in our cover sample: Sari Wrap Navy from Grand Bazaar (shirting) fabrics by Patty Young. 

FABRIC QUANTITIES: Since this garment is made to size, the fabric quantities will vary greatly depending on your body measurements. Plan on using at least 2.5 yards for sizes XS - M and 3 to 3.5 yards for sizes L and above. Shorter garments may use less fabric. 

NOTIONS: Sewing machine and/or serger, coordinating thread, scissors, rotary cutter and ruler, iron and ironing board, measuring tape.

The Road Trip has begun!

LEXI inspiration on SEW FAB

One of the wonderful things about being part of the SEW FAB group has been getting to "meet" so many fabulous designers! Even though we have never met face to face and most of us live nowhere near each other, we do have one thing in common... SEWING! And with that comes a love for patterns, fabric and photography.

Our LEXI DRESS AND PEPLUM TOP pattern is our contribution to the SEW FAB bundle. Today I am sharing some LEXI Dresses made by my fellow SEW FAB designers.

First off we have Karly Nelson, of Paisley Roots, who actually made her own reverse appliqué technique on the front of this LEXI dress as part of Project Run and Play. WOW, I am in love with this version of Lexi! The pattern on the front is absolutely FABULOUS!!

Next we have designer Sara Beth Upshaw, of Molly Blossom, sharing her wonderful up-cycled Monsters Inc Lexi dress. How cute is she? I think she likes her new dress.... and so do I!

The Year of the BUNDLE!

Who doesn't like shopping in bulk to save a few bucks? That's why discount clubs like Sam's Club and Costco are so popular, right? We just got a membership to Costco this weekend and it was so exciting!
