Giveaway Winners and 2010 Pattern Reveal!

WOW, what a week! First I want to thank each & every one of you for the well wishes, comments, emails and tweets regarding the procedure I had done last week. Your jokes, poems and funny stories had me smiling from ear to ear... THANK YOU! I must say that I'm floored at how many of you out there have experienced similar situations. I guess it's not the kind of thing everyone wants to talk openly about, but hey, it's life. I feel I need to clarify that I did not have a hysterectomy (VH), although I can see how some of you could have assumed that. I had a HydroThermal Ablation (HTA) also known as Endometrial Ablation. If you're not familiar with the procedure, you can click the links above to learn about it. I'm so thankful for modern medicine allowing options for women with my symptoms. Twenty years ago, there was really only one solution and I would've been bedridden for weeks. Time will only tell if this was the right choice. Who knows, I may have to go for the VH eventually, but for now, I'm feeling great... knock on wood.

OK, now on to the fun stuff! 260 of you commented on the pillow giveaway and and here are the lucky winners:

Hummingbird Patch Pillow:
SoBella Creations

Ragged Blossoms Pillow:

CONGRATULATIONS to each and every one of you! Please email me at info@modkidboutique.com to claim your prize. And thank you again to all who visited and commented!

Shop MODKID!

I am so excited to finally be able to share these links with you! Thank you to everyone who has inquired lately about where to purchase Autumn Blooms... and my sincere appreciation for your patience while the pieces got created and shipped out. But the wait is over, and I can finally share links to the first 2 retailers that are carrying ready-made, ready-to-ship Autumn Blooms!

NOTE: As a courtesy to the retailers who so kindly ordered from me, these particular pieces will NOT be offered by me or anyone else on eBay or as custom orders. These can only be purchased through the stores I will mention here.

OK, here it is:

First, we have Anna-Kate's Closet who is carrying my Autumn Blooms Embellished Denim Pants, Skirted Knit Top and Floral Headband (shown below).

The 2-piece set of pants & top is available in sizes 2T, 3T, and 4T for immediate ship. The headband is one size fits all and can be purchased separately to complete the look. Click here to view these items at Anna-Kate Boutique. Oh, and they still have one Bistro 2-piece set for sale in size 3T! These sets went super fast and will not be re-made so if you want to stock up for next Summer, you can purchase the last of these gorgeous sets here.

UPDATE! Anna Kate's Closet is all SOLD OUT of this set, so that's why you may be seeing an empty link.

Secondly, Confetti-Kidz is carrying my Autumn Blooms Jumper Dress in sizes 3T, 4t, and 5 (shown below).Comfortable and versatile, the Autumn Blooms Jumper Dress can be worn over a peasant top, long sleeve tee or a sweater to create different looks. The skirt portion is made with soft corduroy in tones of hot pink, lime green and chocolate brown. The bodice is made with dark denim, fully lined and accented with baby rick rack and crocheted flowers in coordinating colors. Shoulder straps are adjustable to 3 different lengths and finished off with a pair of silver-tone clips. A funky pom pom key chain provides the perfect complement as an accessory and can easily be removed before washing. Click here to see this item.

Again, these pieces will NOT be available on eBay or as custom orders, only through these retailers. But if you see an item from my Autumn Blooms Collection that is not represented above, or if the size you need is not available, please don't hesitate to email me at info@modkidboutique.com and I can point you in the right direction. More links to retailers are yet to come (as soon as the items are in stock).

Now... go support these fantastic independent retailers, just as they support so many independent designers like myself. :)
Feeling Lucky

I haven't posted in a week and I apologize. I was busy getting Autumn Blooms orders fulfilled this past week, but I am so happy to announce that the last of the paid orders went out today. WHEW! Soon, I'll be sharing some links with you so you can shop, shop, shop.

But first I wanted to share with you why I'm feeling so "lucky" these days. My friend Dayna suggested I try Lucky Labels after a few failed attempts at contacting another company that shall not be named to get my MODKID woven labels created, and I am just so happy that she did. Not only did these guys match my colors and artwork exactly, but their customer service was unsurpassed, their pricing was lower than any others I checked out (even including shipping from Thailand!) and their turn-around time was lightning fast! They had a first proof for me within 48 hrs. from the time I emailed them my logo. I made one tiny change and they produced another right away, which was perfect, and the 2,400 pieces were made and ready to ship 4 days later! I couldn't believe it!! And when they arrived at my door I was speechless... it was everything I expected & more!

I ordered the woven clothing labels and the matching seam inserts... and I just love them! I also went out and splurged on a new tagging gun so now I'm really looking professional! hee hee

Here are some pictures of Autumn Blooms in the midst of production...

And then ready to ship out...

Mmmm, those colors are so yummy... and the fabrics are super soft! :) Stay tuned for some online boutique links. I'll be posting a couple this weekend and more to come later.
MODKID Fall 2007 Preview

I just wanted to share with you the first of hopefully several new collections for this Fall. I just completed my wholesale catalog and sent it to the few retailers who had inquired about orders. If you are a retailer interested in carrying this line or other MODKID designs, please contact me via email at info@modkidboutique.com for a wholesale catalog.

And here are a few shots taken right out of the catalog. The collection has 7 mix and match pieces: a jumper/dress, a 3-tier twirl skirt, a pair of corduroy flare pants, a pair of denim ruffle pants, a denim peasant shirt, a knit skirted top and a headband with detachable flower. There are 3 different styles of babywale corduroys used alongside some super soft denims and cozy knits. This collection is comfortable, fun, funky and wearable. It is easy to care for and will be perfect for Back To School and all Fall/Winter events.

For wholesale inquiries, please email Patty at info@modkidboutique.com.
MODKID at stores!

Remember the wholesale orders that I was preparing during my weekend with Bernie? And the ones I documented here? Well, the first batch of them have hit the stores... well, one store, to be exact. LOL! My 2-piece Bistro set is now available ready-made in sizes 2T, 3T and 4T at Anna-Kate's Closet, which is located in Virginia, but they also have an online boutique at which those of us who live nowhere near Virginia can browse & shop. If you do live in Virginia, or are planning to travel there, and would like to take a peek at their new store, here is the information:

Otherwise, you can visit their online store by clicking here. It's a wonderful little boutique packed with whimsical and unique items for baby, children and mommies.
A Method to my Madness

Since I was spending my weekend with Bernie, I had to make sure I maximized my time since I don't get that sort of luxury very often. I turned my studio into a little manufacturing plant in which I was the sole assembly line worker and made a little documentary of my process, which means that in addition to spending time with Bernie, I also spent a lot of time with Penny (my Pentax D-SLR) and Maci (my Macintosh computer). It was a girls' weekend for sure! ;)

So, for all of you out there who might be wondering how a weekend with Bernie, Maci & Penny is spent, here is the breakdown:

1. Cut all pieces
2. Label each piece using a sticky note & pin
3. Stack according to sizes and type of pieces (i.e. all 2T Bistro pants on one stack, etc.)

4. Sew all "like" pieces together (or shirr if needed)
5. Serge all "like" pieces
6. Topstitch all seams

7. Attach MODKID clothing labels plus size & care labels

8. Add any finishing trims or embellishments as needed

9. Hang & Tag
(repeat steps 1 - 9 for the next set of "like" pieces)

10. Package each outfit in individual cellophane bags

11. Box & Ship

Needless to say, in between each step you can add "take pictures" which I guess added a few extra minutes to the process but makes for an informative blog posting. And, of course, all this was done to a background playlist comprised of 80's & 90's rocking tunes played as loudly as possible on my iTunes.

Thanks to all of you ladies who kept me "virtual company" while I worked. Your comments were all so sweet! My to-do list is now about half the size it was which is so amazing to me because when I first saw it "on paper" I felt completely overwhelmed. I got the large orders out which was the most pressing and the rest of the list is definitely doable during my usual schedule. Oh, and for those of you who inquired, Jon loves his new grill and we have already used it a couple of times! :)
